Theswing between the various adaptive settings on the S4 are quite minor especially compared to other manufacturer's offerings, but all are, in my unscientific testing, firmer than the A4 / A4 with sport suspension. The A4 sport suspension is "pretty close" to an S4 w/ adaptive suspension set in comfort mode, but still ever so slightly softer. Yes the 1BA (that's one-BA, not eye-BA) uses 53mm, the 1BD uses 49mm, and the 1BE switched from using 53mm to using 49mm. At no time ever did the Audi materials imply you should have a 49mm for a 1BA. Whatever third-party companies might have claimed, they aren't Audi parts catalog, so their errors are on them.

Onthe road. 69. The engine is Audi's lovely 3.0-litre turbo TFSI with a honking 260kW from 5400rpm to 6400rpm and a walloping 500Nm between 1370rpm and 4500rpm. The bi-modal exhaust is mainly to change from near-silence to muted burbling and that's okay by me. Power goes to all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic.
